The Swamp White Oak is a deciduous tree that can grow 50-60′ tall and 40-50′ wide. This species’ crown is broad and rounded with drooping branches. Swamp White Oaks can withstand many stresses and can be used as a buffer slope and shoreline stabilizer. This species is the only oak tree that is resistant to soil compaction! Additionally, the Swamp White Oak’s ability to withstand flooding suggests its compatibility in rain water gardens as well as restorations of woodland swamps, flood plain forests, and other wet, low forested areas.
